Many feel that the European Primitivo grape is, or is closely related to that good old American favorite Zinfandel.
Apulia in southwestern Italy is one of the country's most prolific wine-producing regions. It has 25 DOC wines but less than 4% of its wine production is classified as DOC. The region is mostly fertile plains, that is part of the problem. Apulia makes quite a few rosés, some of which are said to be good or better.
