The Top Wines of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region
What are Friuli-Venezia Giulia's best wines?...
Ramandolo
Ramandolo vineyard
Friuli-Venezia Giulia is the third and final region of northeastern Italy. It contains a single DOCG wine, Ramandolo, a dessert wine based on the white Verduzzo Friulano grape. It's a straw yellow wine with green highlights. Ramandolo is citrusy, elegant, fragrant, not-too-sweet, and slightly tannic. (When is the last time you saw or heard the word tannic describing a white wine?) Its bouquet is of dried apricots and honey. I'd love to taste a Ramandolo wine, but it is not available in my area. Serve this wine at 45-49 degrees Fahrenheit (8-10 degrees Centigrade).
