Molise is a small region in central Italy. It offers three DOC wines, Biferno, Molise, and Pentro di Isernia, also known as Pentro. There isn't much history of winemaking in this region, but given the high elevation and poor soils, there may be a real future. In the meantime, you may want to refer to my article
I Love Italian Wine and Food - The Molise Region for a review of an excellent, moderately priced white wine based on the Falanghina grape. This wine is considered a table wine, with no higher classification. Personally, I think that your best chance of finding bargains are in off-the-beaten-track locations including Molise.
